l 可以接受转专业的学校和背景
l 非商科背景的（无背景的）
l  这个类别专门为非商科背景，但是把金融管理作为未来职业规划的学生所设计，拉夫堡Finance and Management、东安吉利亚大学MSc International Accounting and Financial Management，巴斯的Management with Finance，兰卡斯特大学Lancaster，埃克赛特大学Exeter，斯特拉思克莱德大学Strathclyde，诺丁汉Nottingham, 伦敦国王学院King`s Colloge London莱斯特大学Leicester等都是这属于类别。由于学生之前没有任何商科知识，因此课程的专业度通常也比较浅，除了金融的知识外，也讲授很多管理学的知识。
l 需要商科背景的（想学Finance，从International Business转换成Finance）
l    这类课程是将管理和金融相结合的专业，通常针对商科背景，同时学过一些金融课程的学生，比如工商管理、电子商务、信息管理等，专业度相对第一类来说要深入。约克大学York的MSc Management with Business Finance，南安普顿大学Southampton的MSc Management Sciences and Finance等都是这个类型的。
l 要求有数学能力的
l    很多学校的金融专业除了接受本专业申请外，还往往加一条，如果学生来自理工等其他专业，有很强的数学背景的话，也可以被接受。布里斯托大学Bristol的MSc in Accounting, Finance and Management、利兹大学Leeds 的MSc Finance and Investment、伯明翰大学Birmingham的Investment、纽卡斯尔大学Newcastle的International Economics and Finance，曼大Manchester等都是这个类别，学生主要证明自己的数学能力和对金融方面的认识及规划就可以。当然实际中我们遇到的问题是，由于微积分、线性代数、概论这些数学课程通常在大一、大二时候开，很多不同这时候还无留学规划，因此不知道成绩的重要性，所以很多同学数学成绩不够高，因此说规划还是要早做，或者已成事实的同学找机会重修一下。
 
l 转专业课程
l St Andrews，Durham ，Glasgow，Newcastle，Loughborough，Leicester，Stirling，Kent，Surrey，Swansea等大学商科类课程很多都能转换专业就读，传媒英语类也有部分学校有转专业课程。
l 金融管理专业一般都不对学生的专业背景作要求，可以申请的院校有St Andrews，Durham，Loughborough，Exeter，Lancaster等
l 大部分学校的金融专业都需要学生具有金融或经济及数学背景，接受非专业背景学生就读金融相关专业的学校
l 通常有Newcastle，Stirling，Aston，（Accounting&Finance）等大学   金融专业需学生有商科背景即可得学校通常有Loughborough，Durham，Leicester等
l 金融专业需学生本科学过4~6门经济，会计，统计，金融类课程的学校Glasgow大学
