  University of Manchester (曼彻斯特大学)

   Clinical and Health Psychology Msc(心理学背景)

  Academic entry qualification overview

An honours degree (minimum 2:1) or overseas equivalent in psychology. A degree in which Psychology forms a major component may be acceptable. Each case will be judged on an individual basis.

In addition to the standard supporting documents (two academic references and detailed academic transcripts) all applicants must also:

  1. Outline an idea for an original research project. This should be within the topic of clinical or health psychology and should not, to your knowledge, have been previously conducted. This need not be a project that you would undertake within an MSc, but is intended to demonstrate your ability to identify a research question and appropriate methodology. The research proposal is an important part of your application. When evaluating your research proposal, we pay particular attention to whether you have posed a sensible research question and whether the methods you have selected to address that research question are appropriate. (Max word count 250)

  2. List any relevant work or research experience you have had. (Max word count 50)

Applications will be held and assessed together at periodic academic-review panels (PDF, 207KB). Depending on the number of offers made following the final review panel the School may; continue to accept applications and impose a new closing date or; place any late applications on a waiting list.

All supporting documentation can be uploaded and submitted with the online application.

Personal statements and CVs will not be considered as part of the application process.

Only fully completed applications, with all the required supporting documentation will be considered.

International Students: Must upload a scanned copy of their passport as part of the application process.

Psychology of Education Med (教育学, 心理学背景)

  Academic entry qualification overview

A good honours degree (minimum 2:1 classification), or the overseas equivalent, in any discipline is required. Candidates who do not meet the minimum 2:1 entry requirement must demonstrate evidence of ability to study at Master's level (e.g. by having already completed a Master's degree in another discipline).

Please submit the following documents with your application:

  · Copies of official degree certificates or transcripts of your previous study, showing the subjects taken and grades obtained. If these documents are in languages other than English please provide official translations.

  · Two written references, signed by the referee and on official headed paper

  · A personal statement (one side of A4 paper) detailing why you wish to study the course, your experiences, what you can bring to the course and any other information that you see as relevant to your application

  · Copies of English Language Certification, e.g. IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson test score report; WAEC certificate

This course places great demands on students in terms of English language skills. We therefore need to verify English language proficiency at the time of application. We are sorry that we are unable to consider applications from non-native speakers of English unless they include their test report form from one of the Secure English Language Tests, listed below, showing the required minimum scores.

Applicants may be invited to interview before a final decision is made so that their suitability for the course can be assessed. This is likely to be for applicants who do not have any previous experience of psychology and/or education or whose personal statement does not provide enough information about their motivation to study at this level. For overseas students we will try to arrange interview through Skype or other media.

  English language

Applicants whose first language is not English should meet the following language requirements:

IELTS 6.5 overall, 6.5 in writing, no sub-section below 6.0
