　　The newly configured major in Gender, Culture, and Society (GSOC), offers exciting opportunities to explore the role of gender in human culture. The new major provides opportunities to focus on women and on feminist theory, gender and sexuality, and gender and health. Students can also take a more international and transnational perspective on contemporary global issues including the possibilities and problems associated with economic and cultural globalization, migration, diaspora, and religious fundamentalism.

　　1职业名称：语文教师、公务员、广告策划、文职干部、文秘人员、新闻记者、报刊编辑等。
　　2就业领域：可在科研机关、高等院校从事研究、教学工作、有的可从事对外汉语教学，可适宜在党政机关，包括报刊宣传、新闻出版、影视文化、互联网、对外交流其他企事业部门从事语言文字工作的专门人才。
　　3专业和就业对口比率：72%。
　　4中国就业介绍：
　　a.社会需求量：本专业主要培养掌握汉语和中国文学方面的基本知识，受到有关理论、发展历史、研究现状等方面的系统教育和业务能力的基本训练，该专业由于本身的替代性比较强，缺乏独有的专业技能壁垒，近年来就业困难比较突出。但是，如果平时多关注企业对人才的需求状况，培养自己的职业素养，仍然能够找到不少的突破点。从2005年的人才需求状况来看，媒体、出版、广告、市场营销这一类的人才需求量比较大。
　　b.薪资情报：2005年刚毕业的师范类本科生对1500元月薪的一份工作应该基本满意，但经过三四年，他们会是很强的“潜力股”。据调查在城区，工作三四年的中学教师平均工资2000元~3000元，在一些企业办的学校，骨干教师的平均工资达到5000元以上。
　　c.执照：教师可考教师资格证。
　　5美国就业介绍：
　　a.社会需求量：职业市场需求量不大，但因为该专业毕业生不多，所以就业情况尚好。近年因为反恐的需要，美国政府对外语人才的需求激增，此专业毕业生待遇也开始提高。近一半的毕业生在公司工作，约1/3的毕业生从事教育工作，10%的毕业生在政府工作。职业为商业、教育机构的管理人员，教师，秘书，保险、证券、房地产行业的人员。
　　b.薪资情报：起薪$32 400，平均年薪$46 500。
　　c.执照：无。
　　6：基本素质要求：感情丰富，具有较高的文学素养，对于文字有较强的理解能力和掌控能力。
