美同学作业不要被抄袭

　　事情起因：是一个理科的phd，写作业时跟耗羊毛一样揪着一本书抄，然后做presentation也不像自己写的。一般要是出自你手你应该能稍微解释一下吧，或者回答个问题神马的，这人只是照着PPT念,下面同学提问他一概不知道。然后下面一老美发现他作业是抄的，就把这中国学生给举报了。现在搞得系里30多个中国学生都要被审查。事情还在进展中。今天吃饭时听他们系的同学狂骂这人SB。

　　学校神马的就先不爆了。中部某学校，很受中国学生追捧。听某老师说今年申请人数跟2011年比增长了800%还多。

　　不过还是决定不再透露学校名字了。我发这个贴不是为了让大家都避开这个学校的，是想让大家有个借鉴。到目前为止讨论了几点我个人都觉得很受益。学校不学校的就算了吧!

　　总结一下目前讨论成果：

　　1. The importance of plagiarism. It's dinitely the best and quickest way to ruin your academic future.

　　2. To guarantee your articles are original, whatever they are (weekly response, term paper, any assignment, take-home exam, report, essay. etc), do not cite Wikipedia directly.

　　3. List your rerence as the last part of you work. You may borrow the rerences listed on the Wiki. Generally you must list author's name, year of publishment, name of article, vol. of journal. If the rerence is a whole book, you need to mark the ISBN no. Don't forget to mark [1][2][3][4] in front of every rerence.

　　4. It is also very important to show respect to the author in your literature review. Do remember to google their gender in case you use "he" to rer to a female. Don't make that embarrassment. Please rer to the authors by their last name.

　　抄袭包含几个要点:

　　第一，直接复制他人的思想或话语作为己用。

　　第二，在文字方面发生偷盗行为。

　　第三，用他人作品时不标明来源。

　　但是words能不能steal呢?按美国法律其实是可以的。就好比原文有个as soon as possible，你也写了一个，或者原文对概念有限定词，你拿来，这不构成抄袭。但是类似于个人思想都属于intellectual property，受copyright保护，你可以借用他的观点，但不可完全与之一样或基本相同，所以说，借用他人的观点而在文字上做改动是灰常必要的。

　　下面这段来自www.plagiarism.org的话明确说明哪些行为会被认为是抄袭：

　　1. turning in someone else's work as your own

　　以自己名义上交他人作品

　　2. copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit

　　复制他人话语或观点而无标明原作者

　　3. failing to put a quotation in quotation marks

　　无引用标注

　　4. giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation

　　引用来源有误

　　5. changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit

　　换汤不换药，只换词不换句式

　　6. copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not (see our section on "fair use" rules)

　　复制他人的词语或观点以填充你作品的大部分，不管有没有引用。
