美国留学专业——音乐专业详解

一．音乐教育简介：

据了解，在美国，开设音乐专业的学校可以分为2类，第一类是专业性极强的音乐学校，这类音乐学校是专门为那些将来以音乐为职业目标的学生来设置的。最为著名的代表就是茱莉亚音乐学校，曼哈顿音乐学院，柯蒂斯音乐学校、新音乐学校等。但是，这类音乐学院每一年的招生人数非常少，竞争也非常激烈。

第二类是综合性大学下面的音乐学院。这类音乐学院在音乐方面的教育一点不比第一类的音乐学校差。虽然这类音乐学院是依托在大学之下。

三． 音乐学院提供的研究生学位

MA(Master of Arts)与MM(Masterof Music)：

MM是艺术专业硕士，着重于表演,通常要求申请者在申请过程中提交作品集（pre-screening,portfolio）或参加表演面试(liveaudition)。

MA是文学硕士，注重学术研究以及创作。

四．音乐专业申请要求

★1、国际生都要求成绩，iBT最好在80分以上。一些排名靠前的综合大学，托福要求接近90分。如，威斯康辛麦迪逊大学iBT最低要求87.

★2、申请艺术类专业大多是不需要提供成绩的，但对于音乐教育，音乐理论等理论性较强的专业要求GRE；器乐类和声乐类部分学校不要求GRE，更看重的是表演能力；但90%好的音乐学院的博士要求GRE，包括表演方向。GPA：3.0以上为好。

★5．Auditionand interview：试奏/试演和面试对于申请音乐专业的申请者来说非常重要。对于很多国内申请者，不能直接到学校参加面试，CD和作品集就显得尤为重要，每个学校对于作品之类的要求是不一样的，请详细查询每年学校不同专业的详细要求。

作品集的提交：

对于需要提交作品集的学校，一般都有以下几种提交作品集的方式

上传作品到指定的网站，并将网页链接发给学校 eg:PSU的作品集要求如下：

Upload your video following theinstructions provided. 将作品刻录成光盘，寄送到学校指定地址。Eg:UCLA Conducting, Piano, Voice3个专业的作品要求如下：

Pre-screening CD/DVD：Mark your CD/DVDclearly with your full name, degree, and year: Please ensure that your CD/DVDis compatible with both Mac and PC systems, and do not edit or enhance therecording in any way. Your CD/DVD must also be accompanied by a cover sheetthat gives the following information:

Name as itappears on the UC application.

Degree for whichyou are applying.

Repertoire youare presenting.

Conducting -Organization being conducted and your connection to that organization.

Comments youwish to make about this video or the recording session.

到指定的网站进行音乐学院的申请并提交作品集，常用的网站有：slideroom, accepted等。Eg: Universityof Texas at Austin MM in Vocal Performance 的作品集提交方式：All prescreening materials should beuploaded through the Butler School ofMusic supplemental application. Do NOT mail DVDs or CDs tothe Butler School of Music or the Graduate and International Admissions Center.Your materials should be uploaded no later than 1 December, 2013.

★6.Deadline:音乐学院总体来说申请截止日期都比较早，许多学校的deadline都集中在12.1前后，例如University ofTexas—Austin的网申提交和作品集提交截止日期都是12.1； University ofWisconsin—Madison截止日期是12.1。

六、美国音乐学院的所需费用

与其他专业相比，艺术类专业的学费都相对较高。音乐专业每一年的费用在10000美元-50000美元不等。总体来说，专门的音乐学院学费比较贵，综合大学的下属音乐学院相对学费便宜。比如Juilliard School学费大致在$32000 /年； NYU学费每年约$26,622（$1,479/ credit）。
