您可以利用网络获得学校的相关信息，也可以通过论坛和有经验的往届申请者进行交流，还可以向艺术留学方面的专业咨询师进行咨询。学校的信息大致可以分为以下几个方面：学校优势专业、学校历史、师资情况、学校地理位置、学风特色、学费情况等。充分了解这些情况，意味着自己会有更多的选择空间。

其次，探索自己想学的专业或领域

美国的本科教育一般在大一和大二是不确定具体专业的，会给学生一个非常宽广丰厚的基础教育，然后让学生选择专业领域进行学习;研究生教育则根据学校不同而异，有的学校偏重理论教育，有的学校则偏重实践应用。想申请去美国读艺术类本科的同学可以结合自己的性格特点和爱好，有一个大致的申请方向，研究生则要更考虑自己之后的就业方向，偏重于理论研究或者实践性强的艺术创作或设计等;然后，让自己尽快过语言关，通过多种渠道熟悉美国文化环境。
