School Notes
  • Sawney Webb&apos&aposs goal was to build moral character, make ladies and gentlemen of his students, and prepare them for any challenge that may come their way. This has been accomplished for 140 years through a solid liberal arts education, a strong sense of honor, and an interactive school community. Over 140 years The Webb School has produced 10 Rhodes Scholars and its graduates have gone on to attend prestigious colleges and universities across the nation and to lead important, successful and fulfilling lives in business, education, and the arts. It is our intention to keep this tradition alive by providing a sound education combined with high moral values.
  • Community Life Webb is more than a school; it becomes your home. Our close-knit community fosters the development of lasting friendships not only among students, but also between students and faculty. Students also learn a great deal about responsibility for themselves and community.
  • Honor Code The Honor Code is an essential part of a Webb education. Our Honor Code is so important to our students it often serves as an integral aspect of their lives even after graduation. It has such an impact that it was taken beyond our grounds and to Princeton in its early years and has since served as its foundation for their honor code. Webb honor code is upheld by an honor council, which is comprised of students and advised by a faculty member. A position on the honor council is the most important position at Webb.
  • Academics Webb students are academic achievers. They are finalists for National Merit Scholarships and National Achievement Scholarships on a regular basis. Their SAT scores are well above the national averages. Why do our students do so well They are talented and they are motivated. Everyone pushes each other to strive farther. If a student is having trouble in a subject their classmates quickly step up to help. That kind of support makes Webb a school where you don just listen you are taught how to learn.
  • Faculty With an average class size of 12 (8:1 student-teacher ratio), our teachers have time to focus their energy where it belongs on encouraging and teaching every student. They get to know you, so they know when you need more help and when you need bigger challenges. You get to know them, too. In class and on the field, on trips and in the dorms, the teachers you have at Webb become friends you l keep long after you e graduated.
  • Academics Webb offering of AP and Honors classes ensures that our students will always have a demanding schedule to tackle. We also have the flexibility to balance a schedule with AP and college-prep level courses to match a student aptitude. Our high standards across the board ensure that Webb graduates are not only prepared for the challenges of higher education, but also for demands of a changing world.
  • Fine Arts Other opportunities in the fine arts include the drama program that performs two full productions each year, choir, string ensemble, two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. All of these programs are housed in our new Fine Arts Center.
  • Athletics Our students are competitive, and they get recognized for it. They e been named Academic All-Americans and All-Americans, and they e gone on to play their sport at the college level. Webb athletics teach students the value of teamwork and sportsmanship. With the majority of our students playing at least one sport, the opportunity to participate and learn these lessons is available to every student.
