My major at undergraduate level is Measuring & Controlling Technology and Instrument which matches with the major Mechanical Engineering in the States. To be honest, my interest in this major barely showed till sophomore year, and I was attracted by this major deeply after I realized its beauty. During undergraduate study, I have learned that every single part of machine elements is created by reasons. Let us take the hexagon bolt for instance, the reason why it made to hexagon shape that is because it is easy to tighten up by using wrench when meets with resisting force; another example, the both ends of major roots flowmeter are usually notching, even though it seems useless, actually it helps with liquid flowing and reduces the abrasions between end face of waist and internal surface of pedestal, thereby assuring the vital function of flow measurement's accuracy. I concluded these from my past practice experience, and just because this kind of science which perfectly combined theory and practice, appeals to me in every way.

Academically, I believe that I have gained the solid fundamental theories in Measuring & Controlling Technology and Instrument and related knowledge during my undergraduate studies in University of Science and Technology of China. According to my outstanding performance and good academic record at school, I have been obtained scholarships and ranking No. 1 among 63 students in my class, as well as exposed in many experiments endeavors of Measuring & Controlling Technology and Instrument. Specifically, such as Rotation Precision Experimental Design of Center Lathe Spindle in the earlier of this year. During this experiment, I made a systematic analysis of both one-way and bidirectional measurement of the spindle accuracy, and a comparison of measurement standard between standard cylindrical and master ball; I proceeded simulation experiment with Matlab and I picked optimal method by analyzing data processing methods. From this experiment, I experienced a complete process of scientific research, from collecting data and parsing problem to finding solution and making open reply. Besides, I gained a deeper understanding on the concept of rotation precision, as well as practiced my teamwork skills. All of these endowed me a comprehensive view of research world, and reckoned me ready to conduct more advanced and complicated researches in your program.
